David Johansen visits WPRB (March, 1983)
In March of 1983, WPRB sponsored an on-campus concert by ex- NY Doll (but pre- Buster Poindexter) David Johansen. Afterwards, he came down to WPRB, but the only known recording of whatever transpired is this hastily-cut station ID (deployed in his classic NYC accent: “Dis is David Johansen…“)
Though seemingly well-attended, WPRB lost a considerable amount of money promoting this gig, and also wound up on the hook for a full-length mirror which was acquired under shady circumstances. You can read more of the sordid details in this article from The Daily Princetonian.
